Stanley R. Keene

Stanley R. Keene, age 98, of 304 East Jackson St. in Pinckneyville, died on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2001 in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mr. Keene was born July 18, 1902 in Pinckneyville, the son of John W. and Annis (Reisinger) Keene. He married Wanda Kelley on November 9, 1934 in the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville. She preceded him in death on February 3, 1997. 
He was a retired coal miner from the Pyramid Mine and a farmer. He was a member of the UMWA Local 9721 and a Teamster. He was a lifelong resident of Pinckneyville and an active member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. He was a faithful giver to Baptist mission causes.
Mr. Keene is survived by a nephew, Don Keene and wife Joan of Pinckneyville; a niece, Virginia Kuhnert of Ava; three great-nephews, Cecil Keene and wife Ruth of Pinckneyville, Donny Keene and wife Pam of Pinckneyville, and Daniel Keene and wife Debbie of Simponville, S.C.; five great-nieces, Patricia Harsy and husband Ed of Pinckneyville, Diane Barker and husband David of O'Fallon, and Jaci Keene of St. Louis, and great-nieces Ann and Christine; and three great-great-nephews, Michael, Clinton and J.D. Keene. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville with Rev. James Bush officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery. Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville or after 12 noon Sunday at the church. 
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Carmi or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
